FRIDAY DAY 14

they have finally moved my dad out of the icu. they did it early this morning. when we got to his room we noticed that his neck brace was off. we asked if he did it, and he gave us a guilty look. i asked him how he got it off and he said "easy." his right hand is still tied down and his left hand doesn't work much, so i really don't know how easy it was but he is determined. the only tube attached to him now is his feeding tube. it's nice to see him without wires everywhere. he keeps asking for something to drink because he is so thirsty. it's hard not giving him anything. the video clip is a family joke we have had for many years(get me a dr pepper in the refrigerator). it's good to see that my real dad is still in there. it makes us laugh when he signs "i love you," because he forgets to hold up his thumb too, so really what he is saying is "rock on." either way we love him and we want him to keep "rocking on."

TODAY!

my dad is doing 100% better today than yesterday. he even got to eat a little bit of applesauce. they are giving him different meds now, and the new ones seem to be much better for him. he still has pneumonia so they don't know exactly when they will be moving him out of ICU, but we hope it is soon. he will love to see the grandkids! wahoo! today is a step in the right direction. let's hope he stays on this path!

dad

today is not a good day for my dad (or my mom). they medicated him so heavily last night and again this morning, before my mom got there, and now he won't wake up or respond at all. it is so frustrating. because he is so out of it, he is not able to cough and so they keep having to suction him. let's hope they don't have to do a tracheotomy because of this. and, his blood pressure is way out of whack. we are going up to see him in a few hours and i will let you all know if there are any changes.

DADDY OH.....

yesterday was the first time i have seen my dad "awake," and i am so glad i got to see that. i feel better now that i got to see him moving his left fingers, and doing even the little things he was doing like holding up the same fingers (on his right hand) that david was holding up. it just made me know that my dad is in there somewhere. i will try to keep this up to date. you can also check out dan and lisa's blog and dave and kristy's blog by clicking on their names under links.

COUSINS

this past week has pretty much been a blur, and very stressful. at least the kids had each other to keep them occupied and out of trouble. they have so much fun playing together. this is how the 3 kids got around in the backyard. pretty clever of them right?the 3 little ones are so cute together all ready. they play well for 1 yr olds. they all wanted to go bye bye

nice weather!

this is why we live in az. it was 78 the other day. NICE! however i start to dread summer about this same time every year.
we have been playing outside a lot this past week. the other day ryan kept running in the house with this bucket and filling it up with water from the bathroom sink. i asked him what he was doing and he told me he was growing me some marigolds. i have no idea where he came up with marigolds, let alone even knows the word. he probably read it somewhere i guess. later he took some balls and rocks and put them right on top of the flowers and said he was "decorating" them for me.
after church on sunday, i was asking him what he learned in primary and he really didn't tell me much except that they made necklaces with pictures on them (this much i knew because i saw it around his neck). anyway i kept asking and didn't get much. that night our home teachers came over and they were asking him what he learned and he said "heavenly father and jesus made the earth and they made pretty flowers like roses that smell so good, and the rain, and our friends , and our families" i was almost in tears hearing about how much he learned, and remembered. today he was outside with darrel and he felt the wind and said "daddy did you feel that? heavenly father and jesus made the wind and all the beautiful things on earth." my little guy is growing up. i love that boy so much!
at the park with his friend kelsey. they play together so well.

doesn't she look so grown up!?! she walks around outside with this phone up to her ear and pretends to talk. it is the cutest thing! she absolutely loves being outside. you just mention it and she runs to the back door. i caught her the other day playing with the t ball set. she can actually hit the ball. and she loves riding the little quad we have. i just wish she would learn how to steer a little better.

she thinks that she can do everything her big brother does. she was trying so hard to climb these steps. she loves to climb. she can pretty much get up on all our furnitue now. i am surprised she hasn't figured out how to get out of her crib. i hope i didn't just jinx myself. she is such a sweet heart and i love her so much!

john, this is for you.....

first of all you are so silly! thanks for making me laugh! i am not quite sure why, but these are my favorite pair of leather pants. maybe i should get some for darrel to wear when he goes riding (much better than his one piece white evil knievel leathers! i am glad i don't have to be seen with him). they are like this only tighter and the have blue and red stripes (no stars). oh, and he even has white boots to match them. i laugh so hard everytime i see him in it!
