we had such a great little vacation! it was the first trip without any melt downs from the kids. they both were so good, and had so much fun.
ryan was finally tall enough to go on all of the "big kid" rides, and he couldn't get enough. i asked him which ride was his favorite and he said, "probably splash mountain because of the 50 foot plunge." he went on it about 8 times. i think the longest line we waited in was about 15 minutes. it was the perfect time of year to go (and the weather was absolutely beautiful too). we went to
disneyland so i could get in free on my birthday. when we got our passes they gave me a big button that said "happy birthday
amy" on it. i was
reluctant to wear it, but put it on anyway. there were so many other people with their b-day buttons on, that i didn't feel that dumb. it was kinda fun having
everyone and their dog wishing you a happy birthday. i highly recommend going on your b-day!
emily got so excited when she saw
minnie. she didn't want to leave her. she kept saying "bye bye
minnie mouse", and blowing her kisses. she also loved going on all of the rides, and seeing all the princess stuff everywhere. her favorite ride was the peter pan ride. she still talks about it everyday.

i absolutely love this picture of her on the tea cups. it's so hard to get a real smile out of her, and you can just see the pure joy in her face as we were spinning around.

ryan got to drive car by himself, and he thought that was pretty neat.

the day after
disneyland, we drove down to
san diego to spend the rest of our trip, and see some of our friends.
friday morning we decided at the last minute to go to sea world. we have NEVER had a good experience with the kids there. we have been about 5 times since
ryan was little, and
every time we say we will never go back (it's not sea world, it's that one of the kids has always been sick, or behaving really badly). well, i am happy to report we had a fantastic time (despite it being 84 degrees and no summer clothes, or sunblock... our sea world
souvenir was a $15 can of 30
spf). it was not crowded a bit there either. with our admission tickets, we got a pass to go back as often as we'd like through all of 2009. we will be able to fly in for the day and go whenever we feel like it. the walrus in the picture above was HUGE! it was so cool to be so close to him (or her). he kept doing laps, and would come right over to the window and press up against it as he turned around. the kids got a kick out of it.
.
on
saturday, we met up with some of our friends at went to old town. they have a little
mormon battalion craft thing every year. we got to roast
biscuits over the coals, pan for gold, make pioneer dolls, make old pioneer toys, and see what it was like to do wash, just to name a few. it was fun, and interesting. i don't know how the pioneers did it.

our hotel room in
san diego was great! it had bunk beds in a
separate room for the kids, and they loved them. it was so nice to spend time together, and to catch up with all of our friends. we were really our vacation had to come to an end.

this is how
ryan's hair looked most mornings because of the humidity or something. it cracked me up! i couldn't get his hair to do this if i tried. it really has a mind of it's own.
